Dear Sugar Grove Family,

Our prayer is that this letter finds you well! We are truly living in unprecedented times with a presidential election and a pandemic. As elders we met last night due to the change in our community with the large spike in the Coronavirus.

The Elkhart County Health Department is warning that the spread of the virus in our county is at all-time highs since last March.  We also have staff members who are now in quarantine due to contact tracing exposure.

The number of new cases per week continues to rise almost exponentially every week since the end of September. The hospitals are full. The number of new cases per 100,000 residents should be less than 10.  Elkhart County is currently at 606/100,000 residents.  The 7-day all tests positivity rate should be less than 5%, and we are currently at 11.34%.

As Sugar Grove Church is an important part of our community, we are asking our members and regular attenders help minimize the community spread and reduce the Coronavirus to much safer levels.

Here’s what we can do according the Health Department, which we’re sure many already know, but this is a reminder: “Keeping 6 feet from others not in your household is most important; washing your hands or using hand sanitizer frequently is essential. Wear a mask whenever you cannot maintain 6 feet from others not living with you. Avoid crowded areas, especially if indoors with poor air circulation, which can increase the concentration of virus particles in the air.  Stay home if you are feeling ill.”

We are asking all Sugar Grove members and attenders that come for Sunday services to wear a face covering and keep it on throughout the service. This is a request, not a mandate. If you need a mask, we will have some available.

Based on your comfort level, please keep in mind, we do have a masked-required service in our Chapel at 11a. And of course, we are live streaming online both the 9:30a and 11a services.

Thank you for being a part of Sugar Grove and for your role in helping all people take their next step with Jesus. As we navigate this season, thank you for your patience.

Sincerely;

The Elders of Sugar Grove Church
