November 12, 2020

Dear Sugar Grove Family,

As elders and deacons, we met last night after Indiana governor Holcomb announced that he would reinstate some Coronavirus restrictions as the state has recorded sharp increases in COVID-19.

The new steps being imposed by Gov. Holcomb will limit social gathering sizes. Starting this weekend crowd sizes will be limited to 25 people in the highest-risk red counties and 50 people in the next-riskiest orange counties. Elkhart County is orange.

Our response as Sugar Grove Church is rooted in care. Our hospitals are full, schools are going virtual which is putting a lot of pressure on our parents and kids. And the spread in our own church is stretching some of our staff and volunteers to the point of exhaustion, trying to serve understaffed.  We are doing this to love our neighbor, to love our community, to love our church, by doing our part to try to slow down the spread of Covid-19.

Beginning this Sunday (11/15) through the last weekend of November (11/29) we will be moving to a reservation system for up to 50 people to attend services live. The reservation system will be live at noon tomorrow, November 13, at SugarGroveChurch.com. It will be first come, first serve. Keep in mind, we will be live streaming each service as well.

In addition, we will be closing the SG Kids Ministry, Student Ministries, First Impressions and Café during this time. We will keep the building open to internal and external events as long as the size of the group is 50 or less. If you have a scheduled event and it has more than 50 people planned the event may be taken virtual, canceled or rescheduled into the future.

Finally, the business meeting scheduled for this Sunday (November 15th) is moving to a Zoom meeting as well as the Discipleship Made Simple Event (November 21st). You can register to attend the business meeting virtually on our event page on our website. A link will be sent to you to join the meeting after you register. We will have an online voting system for those areas of the meeting that require a vote.

We are asking that the Sugar Grove members and attenders who come to the live Sunday services wear a face covering and keep it on throughout the service. This is a request, not a mandate. If you need a mask, we will have some available.

Remember as we navigate this season, God’s got this. Thank you for your patience.

Sincerely;
The Elders and Deacons of Sugar Grove Church
